Along with the capital provided by the Developer and Crowd Investors, there will almost always be some debt used to either buy or develop the property. This debt is usually provided by a bank or a specialist lender and they take a charge on the property as security. Often there will be another layer of debt called Mezzanine debt provided by a specialist lender or by CrowdLords investors. The Mezzanine debt is secured via a second charge on the property.
